Evan Schiller

Golf Course Photography

More than three decades ago, Evan Schiller had no intention of becoming a professional photographer. His life revolved around the game of golf. A talented player from a young age, Evan pursued a career as a PGA professional and competed in tournaments around the world, including the U.S. Open.

In 1986, while competing in the California Open at PGA West, the striking beauty of the desert landscape inspired him to buy a small camera to bring along on his travels. At first it was simply a way to capture the places golf had taken him. But while working as an assistant professional at Westchester Country Club in New York, a friend suggested he try selling a few of his photographs in the pro shop.

What began as a hobby soon revealed something more. Evan discovered he possessed a natural eye for capturing the beauty and architecture of golf courses. With no formal training only a Minolta camera and a deep understanding of the game he followed that passion and began building what would become one of the most respected careers in golf course photography.

Today, Evan has photographed more than 750 championship golf courses worldwide, including legendary venues such as Pebble Beach Golf Links, Augusta National Golf Club, Old Course at St Andrews, Royal County Down Golf Club, and Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. His work has appeared in leading publications such as Golf Digest, Golf Magazine, and The Masters Journal. Combining a golfer’s perspective with an artist’s eye, Evan continues to travel the world capturing the game’s most beautiful landscapes often from the ground, the air, and everywhere in between.
