The Yama of Non-Grasping

There is a grip that has nothing to do with your hands. It lives in the mind, in the planning, in the quiet desperation of a golfer who arrived at the first tee with a number already in their head, a score they need, a round they have already imagined, a version of the game they are determined to have regardless of what the course, the conditions, or this particular day actually has to offer. That grip, invisible and almost universally unexamined, costs more strokes than a poor swing ever could. It is the grip of attachment, and releasing it is the practice of aparigraha.
