Hole 1

After a steep descent from the driving range, whether by cart or on foot, the first tee at Indian Canyon Golf Course reveals itself with quiet authority. Below, the Spokane Valley stretches outward, a sweeping backdrop that feels both expansive and intimate, setting the tone before a single swing is made.

The opening par 4 wastes no time in introducing the course’s character. The fairway speaks clearly with narrow landing areas framed by contours that are sometimes subtle, sometimes bold, but always intentional. These mounds ripple through the various holes like quiet reminders that position matters here as much as power.

A well-struck drive down the left center finds a bit of forward and right chase, setting up a short, manageable approach. But the work is far from over. The green tilts back to front, its surface alive with movement, gentle in appearance, yet full of nuance. Putts here don’t simply roll; they wander, they move with the terrain, they are true to what was intended. Take your par with appreciation, not expectation, and move on to the second, already understanding a little more about the walk ahead.

Hole 2

The 2^nd hole at Indian Canyon Golf Course unfolds as a magnificent par 5, bending dramatically to the left in a sweeping dogleg that demands both discipline and vision.

From the tee, the strategy is clear; favor the right side as much as possible. The farther right you can safely place your drive, the more the hole begins to open rewarding you with a cleaner, more confident look at your second.

The chance at the green in two or a regulation approach is where the hole reveals its brilliance. A natural chute funnels the ball forward, encouraging a chasing shot toward the green. But this is no place for indecision. Keep your line left as anything drifting right will catch a firm kick and bound away into a difficult, often penal position. Long offers no refuge either, making distance control just as critical as direction. For many, the wiser play is restraint. Lay the second shot short, trust your wedge, and lean on a sharp short game to finish the work. It’s a hole that tempts, challenges, and ultimately rewards thoughtful play.

In terms of design, it’s as good as it gets so take a moment, take it in, and enjoy every step of it.

Hole 3

One of the most fun par 4s you will ever play. A hole built as much on trust as it is on execution.

From the tee, the green is nowhere to be seen. You stand on faith alone, aiming into a landscape that falls away down the hill and bends left out of sight. It’s a drivable par 4 for those who can shape the ball right to left, riding the natural contour of the hole and letting gravity do its work.

The ideal play, however, is a touch more patient. A ball worked down the right side will trickle forward, opening the best angle in. The green is guarded on the left by a bunker, but the right side offers a subtle entrance, an invitation rather than a demand.

For others, discretion wins the day. A hybrid or fairway metal placed safely down the right removes much of the risk and leaves a delicate approach into a green that is as small as it is beautiful, tucked gently into the valley below. It’s a stunning piece of design; blind, bold, and endlessly enjoyable.
