CONCIERGE SECRETS

AMW Faves List

Favorite Par 3 – #2 – nostalgia certainly has a voice here but save that sentiment for another day. This hole plays slightly uphill to a demanding green where subtle misses are rarely forgiven. Favor the longer of two clubs on approach to be past the number is better than coming up short.
Favorite Par 4 – #18 – one of the most photographed holes at Mid Pines, this stellar finisher is a fitting close to the round. While not overly long on the card, it demands precise shot-making from tee to green.
Favorite Par 5 – #12 – reachable in two especially if you shave just enough off the dogleg left. This hole offers a genuine scoring opportunity. A bold line off the tee can set up a go at the green and bring a tweeter firmly into play, or perhaps even a visit to the eagle’s nest high in the Southern Pines.
Favorite Hole Design – #13 – a true Donald Ross masterpiece, this par 3 is as strategic as it is beautiful. The green is open in front, inviting a running approach, while deep bunkers guard both the right and left, demanding precision.
Easiest Hole – #8 – avoiding the bunker that guards the front of the green is the key to success here. A high, soft approach is the ideal play, but using the contours to run a shot in from the right is equally effective.
Hardest Hole – #10 – uphill and long, this par 5 is the toughest hole on the course. The green is smaller than most, with bunkers strategically placed to punish any misjudged approach. While it’s possible to reach in two for the bold, a steady par is a smart way to start the back nine.
Favorite Extra Sighting –
Favorite Apres Golf – walk around Mid Pines
Where to Stay – Mid Pines Resort, Pine Needles Lodge, Pinehurst
Where to Eat –  Mid Pines, Pop’s Lounge, In-The-Rough Lounge, The Crest, The Tavern (Pinehurst)
