Favorite Par 3 – #4 – “The King” — and rightly so. One of the most unique par 3s in the world, featuring a massive 20,000-square-foot green that feels less like a putting surface and more like a double-black run on Aspen Mountain. Precision is optional; imagination is mandatory.
Favorite Par 4 – #5 – creative and full of imagination, this is an immensely enjoyable par 4. Short on the card but rich in strategy, it demands thoughtful shot-making. Beware the pot bunkers, Jolly Green Giant sized hazards that can quickly turn a promising hole into a bogey hunt.
Favorite Par 5 – #1 – after a shot of bourbon, you are on your way to playing a fun nine holes of golf starting with a three-shotter that tempts your every golfing nerve to go big.
Favorite Hole Design – #9 – just think of the 16th at the Waste Management in Scottsdale, a short hole surrounded by heavy onlookers who have no doubt enjoyed a few extra bourbons, ready to cheer, jeer, and make every shot feel larger than life.
Easiest Hole – #9 – at just shy of 150 yards, the distance isn’t the joy the approach to the green is. It’s a hole that defies easy explanation, one best understood by standing on the tee and letting your eyes and instincts do the work.
Hardest Hole – #2 – clever and of otherwise average length, the simple strategy is to avoid anything that isn’t fairway. Do that, and you’ll find this to be a very good hole indeed.
