Payne’s Valley Golf Course
Hollister, Missouri
Golf Amidst the Rock Formations
AMW Faves List
Favorite Par 3 – #10 – with a halfway house gallery watching your every move, this par 3 feels as exposed as it is unforgettable. Set against a spectacular backdrop, it blends challenge and theater, where nerve matters as much as precision and every shot becomes part of the show.
Favorite Par 4 – #3 – even though it’s short, this drivable par 4 may not be the most demanding on the card but it’s easily one of the most fun.
Favorite Par 5 – #18 – as a finishing hole, this is one heck of a test. With The Big Rock looming in the background and thoughtful shot-making required from start to finish, it demands both focus and restraint.
Favorite Hole Design – #5 – a par 3 that will take your breath away and possibly your score. Peaceful, serene, beautiful walk in the park.
Easiest Hole – #12 – the yardage is short and the hole appears benign—but don’t lose focus. A moment of carelessness is all it takes for this one to bite back.
Hardest Hole –
Favorite Extra Sighting – rock formations throughout the course
Favorite Apres Golf – Tom Watson Putting Course
Where to Stay – Big Cedar Lodge, Payne’s Valley Cottages
Where to Eat – Worman House Bistro, Truman Café & Custard, Osage Restaurant, Mountain Top Grill
