Donegal Town.  An area so rich in history that there is evidence of the earliest settlers being around 2000 BC.  It was the center of Gaelic culture for many years prior to the arrival of the Vikings.  Donegal, or “Fort of the Foreigners” was named by the Norse sometime around the 9^th century.  Being at the mouth of the River Eske and Donegal Bay, next to the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and under the protection of the Blue Stack Mountains, the location of Donegal provided everything necessary for a future in commerce.  Centuries passed and Donegal evolved into the center of political, economic and cultural life in the northwestern part of Ireland. Growth in the region continued over the next several centuries, shaping the town it is today.  

Tullycullion, Ireland. A “townland” in the county of Donegal was the first location of Donegal Golf Club.  It was in the mid 1950s that a group of local gentlemen met at the courthouse with all intentions of creating a golf club near Donegal Town.  With the game already established all over the country, the idea of a links nearby was met with enthusiasm.  Land was donated by the Temple family and a design was rendered by the local gents.  In May of 1960, the course opened, and a community of members was formed.  The club would remain in the original location for about 10 years, with maintenance completed by the membership. As the club grew, so did the desires and dreams of those playing the course at Tullycullion.  A search for land commenced.
