Favorite Par 3 – #4 – short, but certainly not sweet. The yardage tells only part of the story, as the green—defined by a large, sharply contoured two-tiered surface—can be downright brutal.
Favorite Par 4 – #16 – a stunning downhill hole that bends subtly to the right, demanding a drive favoring the left side. The green is open and inviting, allowing for a wide range of shot-making options.
Favorite Par 5 – #3 – classic Tillinghast, highlighted by the infamous Sahara Bunker Complex. The fairway is tightly guarded left and right something he loved to do. Reaching in two offers no assurance of birdie, with a demanding two-tiered green lying in wait.
Favorite Hole Design – #17 – the yardage plays fairly short thanks to the downhill design. Water guards the approach to the green, making it essential to fly the shot all the way to the hole anything landing short risks spinning back into the hazard.
Easiest Hole – #1 – the opening hole at Fenway warmly invites players to settle in and maybe even smile. This short par 4 can be reached in one for the long hitter, and for others, a comfortable short iron awaits for the approach.
Hardest Hole – #12 – a true beast of a par 4, featuring a sweeping dogleg and considerable length that demands two big swings—and more often three—to reach the putting surface.
