AMW Faves List

Favorite Par 3 – #7 – though all at Glashedy are beautiful, this one stole my heart.
Favorite Par 4 – #6 – a bit of a dogleg back up the hill and away from the water. A test but a fair one!
Favorite Par 5 – #4 – favorite design and favorite par 5. Demanding and strong, yet inviting and delicate!
Favorite Hole Design – #4 – just a beautifully designed par 5 requesting every shot out of the bag.
Easiest Hole – #14 – par 3 that is short and sweet. However, the magnitude of the surrounding beauty might just take your attention!
Hardest Hole – #9 – though not as long as other par 4s, it is well protected with a domed green. This will put every bit of challenge into making par.
Favorite Extra Sighting – Glashedy Island, various ruins throughout town – if you can find them!
Favorite Après Golf – Walk along Pollan Strand, Nancy’s Barn for lunch
Where to Stay – Ballyliffin Lodge, Bushmills (1.5-hour drive),
Where to Eat – Nancy’s Barn, Ballyliffin Lodge, Ballyliffin GC, Bushmills (if staying there).

It's AMW Story Time!

Long, long ago in a land far, far away, the King of the Fairies, Niall na n-Ard, lived near the village of present day Ballyliffin.  Battles over fish were fought between the English and Irish fairies.  Folklore has it that the lights seen to this day crossing the bay at night are the fairies returning to their respective homes after a night of frolicking and fishing.  Quite the prelude to the lovely starlit village of Ballyliffin.

The Grey Town, The Town of White Herbs, The Town on the Hillside, many names for one of the most beautiful seaside villages in Ireland.  Located at the very North of the country in the county of Donegal, this area has a multitude of archaeological sites including rock art, standing stones, marked slabs, holy wells, Mass rocks, pilgrimage sites, megalithic remains, and cairns.  Most of these sites are secretly held on private lands, protecting them from the constant tourists and potential demise of yesteryear.  The artifacts, ruins, stones date back centuries each telling stories of times gone by.  It is somewhere within the chapters of the history books that the game of golf unfolded in this town.
