AMW Faves List
Favorite Par 3 – #3 – “Honest Abe” is a hole built on integrity and truth. Yardage isn’t the true challenge; it’s the creek guarding the front of the green that demands respect. Bunkers flank both right and left, so commitment is key; err on the side of a longer club and swing with conviction.
Favorite Par 4 – #13 – just a cool hole one that has witnessed plenty of drama over the years. To stand on the tee and play it is a dream.
Favorite Par 5 – #18 – one of the most iconic holes in golf, where matches have been both won and lost. From the proper position off the tee, it becomes a true two-shot hole.
Favorite Hole Design – #13 – the shortest par 4 at Valhalla, yet one that demands restraint. Water encircles the green, prompting even the best in the world to lay back and play the sensible approach.
Easiest Hole – #4 – on the 4th, the possibility of reaching the green in one is real. Bold, aggressive lines pay off, making this one of the rare birdie opportunities on the course.
Hardest Hole – #6 – this par 4 is a beast. “Long Shot” demands both power and precision: even a massive drive leaves a daunting stretch before the green.
Favorite Extra Sighting – Ryder Cup memorabilia throughout the clubhouse.
Favorite Apres Golf – walk down Museum Row
Where to Stay – The Grady, 21c, Hotel Distil
Where to Eat – The Pine Room, Decade, Porch Kitchen
